50 Cent's SMS by 50: Sync by 50 and Street by 50

Rap mogul Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent has decided to enter the headphone market and release his own brand of wireless headphones called SMS by 50. Last year, 50 Cent had plans to release the headphones with company Sleek Audio called Sleek by 50. The deal fell through for various reasons, but the vision of the beautiful wireless hybrid headphones did not. Now with SMS audio, the new brand SMS by 50 will be released shortly.  SMS by 50 will include line of headphones: Sync by 50, Street by 50 and Street by 50 earbudsSync by 50 are priced at $399.95 and they come in both a black and white design.  For more pics and specs, click here: 50 Cent Headphones Price and Specs

Sync by 50 Black Sync by 50 White

Similarily to Sync by 50, there is also a line coming out called Street by 50, a headphones similar to Sync by 50.  They are priced at $299.99.  For more pics and specs, click here: 50 Cent Headphones Price and Specs

There is also an earbud, called Street by 50 which is scheduled to be released in 2012.  The price for Street by 50 is $129.99 and also come in both a black and white design.  For more pics and specs, click here: 50 Cent Headphones Price and Specs

50 Cent Headphones Price Drop

The price for the Street by 50 and Street by 50 earbuds have dropped. The 50 cent headphones have gone done significantly in price, which must make consumers happy. The Street by 50 headphones were previously listed at $299.95 and they have now come down $50 in price to $249.95. Also, the Street by 50 earbuds have come down from $129.95 to $119.95 - a difference in $10.00. Of course, the Street by 50 earbuds still have not hit the markets yet, but they should be out soon. The most expensive 50 cent headphones, Sync by 50, have not dropped in price, I am optimistic they might in the future. The Sync by 50 headphones are still listed at $399.95, although you might be find a cheaper pair on amazon.

Although the 50 Cent headphones come at a premium, they are worth the money. Many experts have deemed the sound quality to be crisp and clear. So if you like bass heavy music like I do, these headphones will be perfect for your listening pleasure. The sound quality barely differentiates between listening wired and wireless, although the quality is marginally better wired. I was very impressed with the sound on my 50 Cent headphones because most celebrity endorsed headphones are lacking in this department.

Another impressive aspect of my 50 Cent headphones are the comfort level.  The Sync by 50 headphones rest comfortable over both ears with the perfect amount of pressure.  They also do not fold up like rival headphones, Beats by Dre, and as a result, they are a lot more sturdy.  If you read my blog about my experience with my Beats by Dre headphones, I had a big problem with the band and how it was so cheaply assembled.  With my 50 Cent headphones, although they might be a bit bigger, they are not heavy and a lot more sturdy.  I feel confident that they will not break, even if they are tested (dropped or banged on something).

So if you like comfort, style and sound quality, the 50 Cent headphones line, SMS by 50, are the perfect choice.

What happened with Sleek by 50 ?

sleek by 50 launch party

I know it's old news, but sometimes I wonder what happened with Sleek Audio and the Sleek by 50 headphones.

When the Sleek by 50 project was initially announced, it got me very excited partially because I like the idea of 50 cents headphones being released, but the brand name Sleek by 50 was very... well, sleek.  Part of building a successful brand is making sure you have the perfect name for your brand and not to knock SMS by 50 in any way, I really thought at the time that Sleek by 50 was very rad.

I know there's much more to a name to sell a product and clearly there were issues between Sleek Audio and 50 Cent, otherwise those 50 Cent Headphones formally known as Sleek by 50 would be in the stores now.  With all this being said, I am glad the way things turned out.  I am happy with the SMS by 50 product line which of course includes Sync by 50 and Street by 50.

Again, it all comes down to whether or not the customer is satisfied with the product and even though Sleek by 50 fell through, I couldn't be happier with SMS by 50 headphones.

50 Cent promotes SMS by 50 at CES 2012

Every techie looks forward to CES held annually every January. Nobody was looking forward to it more than 50 Cent. He was there, in full swing promoting his brand new line of 50 cent headphones, SMS by 50. A lot has changed in over a year, the 50 Cent headphones went from the brand name Sleek by 50 when they were initally shown off at CES 2011, to SMS by 50 later in 2011.

There are a lot of booths at CES, but none seemed to be more popular than the SMS Booth operated by 50 cent, doing what he does best and that is promoting his SMS by 50 headphones.

SMS CES booth

When interviewed, 50 Cent had this to say, "This whole project is an extension of my passion for music. I didn’t like that I would make music and then have people listen to it on headsets that don’t have the capabilities of actually sounding like it does to me.”

Dr Dre is partially responsible for the inspiration behind the new SMS by 50 line 50 Cent admitted, but 50 Cent also points out that his SMS by 50 headphones also have some exciting features that the Beats by Dre headphones do not.  That of course is the wireless hybrid technology.  50 Cent boasts that his headphones are the best wireless headphones on the market.

Soon, you will be able to buy SMS by 50 headphones in stores.  You can already order them online at the official SMS by 50 website, and of course on my official online store where you may be able to find a cheaper price.

CES 2012 SMS Audio Booth to promote 50 Cent Headphones and new DJ Pauly D Headphones

50 Cent Headphones, SMS by 50 have been very well received throughout its short lifespan.

So it is no surprise that 50 Cent and DJ Pauly D have teamed up to release a new brand of headphones under SMS Audio.  DJ Pauly D is a new addition to 50 Cent's G-unit label and the plans are to have a new branded version of DJ Pauly D Headphones.  The two will formally announce the breaking news at CES 2012 on Thursday January 12th at the SMS Audio Booth where they will also be promoting 50 Cent headphone line as well.

50 cent DJ Pauly D

It is clear that 50 Cent has a lot of respect for DJ Pauly D and believes in his abilities.  The newly braded headphones will most likely have similar wireless hybrid technology that 50 Cent headphones did.  No specs or prices for the new DJ Pauly D headphones have been announced, but they should be close to the 50 Cent headphones line as well.

"The immediate response to the SMS Audio line has been extremely positive and we are excited to partner with DJ Pauly D to create a unique line of DJ Pauly D-branded headphones," said 50, CEO of SMS Audio. "Pauly D has a true passion for music and I know he'll put that same energy into helping us develop and promote a quality headphone line."

"Partnering with SMS Audio and 50 Cent is an incredible way to start 2012," said DJ Pauly D. "Having my own headphones has always been a dream of mine, and now that dream is a reality. I'm excited to begin creating and developing my line."

SMS Audio belives that the 50 Cent headphones sales will go up in 2012 as the SMS Audio line is expected to release their new Street by 50 earbuds.

SMS by 50 Cent Headphones going to be big in 2012

50 Cent HeadphonesIt is the end of 2011, and the 50 Cent Headphones, SMS by 50, that were launched in 2011 should start to gain momentum to do much better in 2012.

A lot of people have been asking me if these 50 Cent Headphones are worth the pricetag.  I definitely think they are.  The sound quality is the best I've ever heard and the wireless hybrid technology is simply fantastic.  I can be listenting to my favourite songs while I am doing work around the house and not have to worry about the cord getting stuck on anything.

50 Cent Headphones, Street by 50 earbuds are going to be very nice too.

They launch some point in 2012 and I will also be sure to get a pair.  The Street by 50 earbuds look very stylish and are also going to be of the highest quality.  They are also cheaper in price, so if you can't affird 50 Cent Headphones : Sync by 50 or Street by 50, then maybe the earbuds will be the best option for you.  They are also going to come in different colors, so make sure to check the store when they come out to purchase your pair.

If you didn't get a pair of the 50 Cent Headphones for Christmas, look for them in the new year in all major shopping centers.  They should be available for purcahse for any place that sells electronics, stereo equipment or music merchandise.

SMS by 50 getting great reviews

The new SMS by 50 headphones which are available for pre-order have been getting great reviews from everywhere. Their beautiful design is catching everyone's eye. I thought most people would want to purchase the Sync by 50 wireless headphones, but according to the poll I posted on this blog not too long ago, the majority of people are interested in buying the Street by 50 headphones. Personally, I am interested in the Sync by 50 headphones in black AND the Street by 50 earbuds. Sometimes I don't want to have a large set of headphones that go over my ears, so that's why the ear buds would come in handy. I work in an office where I am able to listen to my iPod as long as it's an earbud, so I am definitely going to buy a pair of the Street by 50 earbuds upon their release.

I think with the sudden craze of musicians putting out their own line of headphones, the competition will be a bit steep for 50 Cent. The advantage he has though, is he has a great business mind and rarely fails at anything he does. 50 Cent is a self made millionaire and puts his heart into everything he does. I also think it's great that he is donating a large portion of his profits to charity. So even though the headphones might be a bit pricy, at least you can feel good about yourself when you buy a pair knowing you will be helping out some less fortunate families.

50 Headphones for a cause: Feeding America

50 cent wearing headphones

So we all know that 50 Cent is a very wealthy man. He has been a successful business man in pretty much every area he has pursued. He's a multi platinum best selling rap artist, creator of vitamin water, creator of G-unit clothing line, and just a few months ago released Street King - an energy shot that had part of its proceeds donated to the United Nations food program. All great right? Well it gets better. A part of all proceeds from the SMS by 50 headphones line will also go towards feeding the hungry. SMS by 50 which includes Sync by 50 price $399.99 and Street by 50 price $299 are not cheap, but for every purchase, SMS Audio will provide 250 meals through Feeding America. So when you purchase 50 Cents Headphones, you will also be helping feed the less fortunate.

Happy Holidays!

NEW 50 Cent Headphones Commercial SMS by 50

Check out the brand new commercial for SMS by 50.  It features 50 Cents headphones on some very sexy ladies.  It is clear from this commercial 50 headphones will be great DJ headphones as well. These are definitely going to be better than beats headphones.  What do you think?

Which 50 Cent Headphones will you buy?

50 Cent's Sync by 50 are now available for order

I haven't updated this site for a long time, but I realize that since 50 cents headphones line is coming out, I should post this information. As many of you are aware, the deal with Sleek Audio fell through for whatever reasons, but the good news is the project did NOT die. Sync by 50 are the newest headphones which can be pre-ordered right now! When will these headphones be available in stores? Not sure yet, but this information will be posted ASAP! Stay tuned!

Dr Dre HP commercial

I know this doesn't have much to do with 50 cent, but I had to post this video because I find it hilarious. This commercial is so ridiculous... Dr Dre reminds me of my dad (an old man). And what is with that high tech jock strap on his face? Things that are supposed to look futuristic most of the time just look silly. I really hope 50 cents marketing team do not make this mistake and try to market their product towards a target audience that just doesn't exist.

50 Cent talks about recent comments directed towards Dr Dre.

Back in February, 50 cent aka Curtis Jackson made some comments which appeared to be directed towards his one time mentor, Dr Dre. Using Twitter to get his message out, 50 cent claims that he was just trying to get Dr Dre’s attention. “I have a strong personality, a strong character. And I can be difficult to deal with at certain points because I’m vocal. If you upset Em [Eminem], he’s just gonna not talk to you. You’re not going to get him in the next room you wanna get him in. With Dre, the same. He’s not comfortable with friction. That [tweet] is, “Hey look, I’m here. Is everybody still paying attention? So they go, “Why he say that? Why he say we mad?” Then the meeting happens.”

50 cent

Who knows how effective this strategy will be, but it is safe to assume that it is turning some heads, particularly the ones of Dr Dre and Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine. If I know one thing about 50 cent, it is that he knows how to get his name and product out there.

2nd Experience with Monster Customer Service

After posting my initial experience with Beats by Dre headphones and their lousy customer service team, I decided to follow up with them. This time I had my warranty in my hand, which states:

(5) Return the Products, shipping prepaid by You (to be refunded if You are entitled to a remedy under the Scope of this Limited Warranty), to Monster for verification of damage, along with a copy of Your original receipts and proof of purchase….

warranty

I am no lawyer, and I know how contracts can be. I realize things aren’t always what they seem, so I wanted to clarify what exactly that line in the warranty meant and if I was entitled to a refund “under the Scope of this Limited Warranty.” I thought there could be a possibility that I would somehow get a refund for the shipping costs or at least know how I could qualify to do so. When presented with this question, the customer service rep stated: “I don’t know what that means. It can be interpreted anyway you want. We do not pay for shipping costs for these headphones, period.” How’s that for service?

broken headphones

I found it odd that this company decided to outsource their customer service to Ireland as well. Normally, you’d outsource it to India or a country in that region of the world where customer service call centers are very cheap to operate and although you may have a harder time understanding them over the phone, I find them to always be polite and helpful. This Irish woman was not.

I hope Sleek Audio and 50 Cent can learn from this. Having a quality product is one thing, but if you have bad customer service, it can ruin the product in the eyes of the consumer. Whenever I see that stupid Dr Dre commercial for his HP laptop he’s promoting, I just get pissed off now.

My experience with Beats by Dre headphones

Dr Dre’s Beats by Dre headphones were a huge success. I bought a pair myself and was quite happy with them until they snapped. I had read stories on the Internet prior to them breaking, that there were issues with their weak support around the actual band of the headphones. I also heard from a friend of mine who went through two pairs that they broke easily. I figured that if I were careful enough, I wouldn’t have the same problem.

Wishful thinking? Yeah. Two weeks after purchase, they snapped. I don’t think I did anything crazy to put stress on the band; I just put them on normally.

I went back to 2001 Audio Video (the place of purchase) to try and exchange them seeing as how they came with a warranty. The guys there told me I had to actually mail them back to Monster, and there was nothing they could do. So, later that night I called the Customer Service line to get some assistance and information about how I could exchange my headphones. The first time calling, nobody answered. Frustrated, I called back and finally a woman answered after about 10 rings. She was extremely rude to me and did not provide much useful information at all. She said I would have to mail the headphones to them, they would assess the damage, then mail back a pair to me. This process could take up to a month, because the factory I was mailing them to, was in Ireland. MOTHER FUCKIN IRELAND! I live in Canada and the postage fees to Ireland would be at least $40 bucks for a package that size.

I then asked the woman, if I would have to repeat the same process again if they were to break. Her response was, “I don’t have a crystal ball. I cannot tell you whether or not they will break, but you seem to be exaggerating the quality of the product. They don’t break as often as you say.” She refused to answer anymore of my questions, and stated that any information I should need would be on e-mail she would send me.

Five weeks later, my headphones are still in the original box, sitting in a corner of my room collecting dust. I can’t be bothered to spend the $40 on shipping costs to MOTHER FUCKIN IRELAND. I feel like they will break again (probably because I have bad luck with these things).

After hearing about 50 Cents Headphones, I got excited. They are stylish and the Wireless Hybrid technology is simply awesome. I hope they do enough stress analysis on the durability of these headphones, because if they have the same problem the Beats by Dre headphones do, I will lose all hope in any type of headphone endorsed by a celebrity.
